Kozhikode: The Jamaat-e-Islami has attacked the Islamic State (IS) and decided to launch a campaign against it.
Speaking at a press conference in Kozhikode, leaders of the Jamaat said that the Caliphate sought to be revived by IS is a mockery of the real Caliphate.
According to Jamaat Kerala emir, M I Abdul Azeez, "The IS is wrongly interpreting the Quran to suit its needs. The hatred towards other religions professed by the IS is unheard of in Islam."
Azeez also took a dig at the West, suggesting that imperialists may have been involved in creating IS to destabilise the Middle East. However, he also praised Western countries for opening their doors to refugees from the region.
A meeting of various Muslim organisations will be held in Kozhikode on September 19 to protest against IS terror. The Jamaat-e-Islami will also organise a state-wide programme on September 23 declaring that IS is un-Islamic.
