New Delhi: For the people traveling in long distance trains with no pantry car, an e-catering service has been started by IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering &Tourism Corporation).
Passengers can now order food through a phone call or an SMS and it will be served at his seat in the train.
The passengers will have to pay for the meal once it is delivered to them. To book the meal, an SMS to 139 along with the PNR number has to be sent. Once the SMS is received, the passenger will be contacted to confirm the order with the details of the menu like Veg Thali, Non-Veg Thali, Veg Breakfast, Non-Veg Breakfast etc with the prices.
The confirmation of the order will be sent to the passenger through an SMS and also an e-mail with the detail of order, PNR No, Coach and Seat No. and billing amount.
IRCTC has also launched a ticket booking app, ‘IRCTC Connect' where you can login to your IRCTC accounts to book, view and cancel Indian Railways train tickets.
