Chennai, June 5: Hotelier Vikram Aggarwal, failed to appear before the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch Police in connection with the IPL betting case, on Wednesday and sought more time to do so.
Police said Mr. Aggarwal's wife accompanied by an advocate appeared before the CBCID office in Guindy and sought some more time for her husband to comply with the summons.
The CBCID had last month summoned Mr. Aggarwal after one of the bookies, Kitty alias Uttam Jain, informed the police that he was operating from a hotel owned by Mr. Aggarwal.
Mr. Aggarwal, owner of Radisson Blu hotel, Chennai, allegedly led the IPL betting syndicate in the city and was a crucial link between his friend Gurunath Meiyappan and actor Vindoo Randhwa.
The CBCID had also conducted raids at two hotels of Mr. Aggarwal in connection with the probe. It may be recalled that Madras High Court had earlier refused to grant anticipatory bail to Mr. Aggarwal.
