IGI Airport is the busiest airport in India, and with the emergence of Terminal 3, it became the largest aviation hub in India and South Asia.
Spread over an area of 6,300 acres of land, IGI has the capacity of handling around 46 million passengers whereas along with Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, together they can handle more than half of the aircraft movements in South Asia.
Although, the airport handled 35.88 million passengers in 2011-12, with the new planned expansion program, it will increase its capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030.
