New Delhi: In a bid make train travel a better experience for passengers, Indian railways is planning to introduce `smart coaches' with state-of-the-art facilities.
The smart coaches will be equipped with GPS-based wake up alarm and LED-based reservation charts and berth indicators. Wi-Fi facility will also be provided in the coaches, reported the Times of India.
The initiative, likely to be announced in the upcoming Railway budget, will also felicitate passengers to enjoy audio announcements in the day time and have interactive voice-based assistance from the train conductor.
The report also said, the coaches conceptualised by the railways will be fitted with laptop, mobile phone charging points for each passenger, automatic doors and microprocessor-based AC units.
It will also have bio-toilets, automatic soap dispensers and hand dryers. CCTV surveillance system and automatic fire and smoke detection and suppression systems will also be attached with these coaches.
