Jammu/New Delhi, Jan 25: An Indian prisoner Chamel Singh, serving imprisonment on charge of espionage, was beaten to death by two wardens inside Lahore's infamous Kot Lakhpat jail on January 15.
Chamel Singh's family in Akhnoor has asked the Indian government to arrange for return of the body, which has been kept in the mortuary.
According to a Pakistani lawyer Tahseem Khan, who is president of an NGO Jesus Rescues, and was also in Lahore jail at that time, the incident took place in the presence of Assistant Jail Superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail.
According to Tahseem Khan, Chamel Singh was washing his clothes at the tap, when two wardens Mohammed Nawaz and Mohammed Sadiq came and scolded him for spreading dirt.
"On the instructions of the Asst Jail Superintendent, the two wardens thrashed Chamel on his head, and blood oozed out of his eyes and head", said Khan.
