New Delhi: Pakistan has described Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh's remarks about retaliating against any possible ceasefire violations on the LoC as “provocative and unfortunate”.
This time the reaction came from Pakistan Foreign Office during a weekly interaction with the Pakistani media in Islamabad on Thursday.
Earlier this week, General Singh said that India is not bound to follow the rules if Pakistan will keep breaking them.
Warning Pakistan against ceasefire violations General Singh had said “If rules are followed by our neighbours, we follow them too. If rules are broken, we won't sit on it, we will break them too.”
Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam on Thursday said that Pakistan was doing its utmost to establish peace along the Line of Control (LoC) and wants to maintain tranquillity. .
She said the Indian army chief's statement was regrettable which could destabilize ties.
