Indian Air Force carries out successful test of surface-to-surface version of Brahmos

The Indian Air Force (IAF) recently carried out a successful test of its surface-to-surface version of the Brahmos Missile near the Eastern Seaboard archipelago. The missile fire was successful and the mission achieved all its objectives. The test-firing was conducted near the Eastern archipelago. The images and the videos of the test-firing were shared by the IAF on its official 'X' handle. Meanwhile, BrahMos Aerospace reiterated its commitment to strengthen the firepower of the Indian Armed Forces and continue to be the flagbearer of Atmanirbhar Bharat. 

"Congratulations @IAF_MCC for successfully carrying out precision-strike launch of #BRAHMOS surface-to-surface variant which has hit the ‘Bull’s Eye’ meeting all mission parameters (sic), the Brahmos Missile posted on X. 

Indian defence forces, including the Indian Air Force, carried out four trials of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in the last two days, Defence officials said. The extended-range missiles hit their targets successfully with precision, they added. 

About BrahMos missile

The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, and fighter aircraft. Notably, it is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world. It is a joint venture between the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Russian Federation's NPO Mashinostroyeniya, who together have formed BrahMos Aerospace. The name BrahMos is a portmanteau formed from the names of two rivers, the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva of Russia.
