Attari: In a goodwill gesture, the Centre on Friday repatriated 16 Pakistani nationals after they were released from different jails in the country.
According to officials posted at Attari, all the Pakistani nationals have crossed over to their country on the basis of 'Emergency Travel Certificate' issued by Delhi-based Pakistan high commission.
The prisoners were handed over to Pakistani Rangers by BSF at joint check post.
Before repatriation, five prisoners were brought here from Srinagar jail, eight from Jammu, one from Amritsar Central Jail and two from Bhuj jail of Gujarat.
Official said the released Pakistanis were arrested in different cases like espionage, suspected militant activities while some were caught in Indian territory without passport and visas and for over stay.
