New Delhi, Jan 22: External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid today rejected Pakistan's plea for using the services of UN military observers group in Kashmir to maintain peace and tranquility across the Line of Control, saying it was 'unacceptable'.
Replying to a reporter's query at a joint press conference with the Sri Lankan foreign minister, Khurshid said, "we have read some statement about giving access to third party. I think we have moved away from that long ago."
Khurshid said, "recent contacts between the Director Generals of Military Operations of both countries are clear affirmation of the bilateral process, which remains sustained and steady."
"We have a history of working bilaterally, and obviously (giving access to outsiders) is not acceptable to us", he said.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar had said in Washington that her country was ready to involve the UNMOGIP (UN military observers group in India and Pakistan) to ease the tensions across the Line of Control.
