India, Bangladesh need to work on increasing connectivity: President

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee today said India and Bangladesh need to work on “increasing connectivity” between the two countries as the visiting Bangladeshi Foreign Minister called on him here.  The President told a delegation led by the Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali that there is a need for speedy implementation of decisions.

“Bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh have grown and expanded in recent years. The two countries have made concrete progress in almost all areas.  “There is now need to work on increasing connectivity,” Mukherjee told the delegation, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.

Ali, according to the statement, said “the sky is the limit for cooperation with India and both sides together need to jointly give a big push”

He said Bangladesh is moving forward on all fronts and the Sheikh Hasina government stands poised to lead the country into the modern age.

The Bangladeshi delegation comprises eight Secretaries and they have come to the national capital to attend the third meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission tomorrow.

The President welcomed the Bangladesh Foreign Minister, who is visiting India for the first time after assuming office, and said the Joint Consultative Commission was a good mechanism, the statement said.
