New Delhi: A man was buried alive on Friday as road construction workers failed to spot him and covered him with sand, boulders tar and then rolled over him in Katni in Madhya Pradesh.
The man was apparently drank and fell into a pit in middle of the road that was soon to be built.
When Latori Lal fell into the pit, a dumper was unloading sand and boulders nearby. Latori was soon covered with all the material and then road roller crushed him when it went to level the road.
The body of 45-year-old was found buried when villagers spotted his shirt sticking out at the road construction site in remote Salaiya village.
Angry villagers targeted the road workers and blocked traffic with protests as the crushed body was taken out by the police in presence of senior officials.

The police said that Latori had gone out late at night and was probably drunk and fell into the pit. When he did not return for a while, the villagers went looking for him. Latori Lal's shirt was spotted sticking out of the road and the villagers realised that he was crushed by road roller.
Police are waiting for the report of an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
A driver of road roller and a road worker have been arrested, Katni's additional superintendent of police Yashpal Singh Rajput said.
They have been booked under section 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, which relates to causing death through a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide.
