Bangalore: Bharat Ratna awardee scientist Prof C N R Rao today clarified that what he said on Sunday was no outburst.
"I just said, what your are doing is idiotic. Telling something as idiotic does not mean calling someone an idiot", the noted scientist told mediapersons.
Prof Rao, he heads the Scientific Advisory Council of the Prime Minister, said, the government is doing a lot for science, but it needs to do more.
"I said funds meant for science must be increased more to be at par with what other countries spend on science", said Prof Rao.
On Sunday, Prof Rao created a flutter by saying politicians in India were idiots.
Venting out dissatisfaction in the scientific community over "inadequate" funding, Rao on Sunday called politicians "idiots" for giving them "so little".
