New Delhi, Aug 23:  Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today held an informal meeting with her colleagues during which she was briefed about the situation arising out of Anna Hazare's fast demanding a strong Lokpal.  The meeting, held in the evening, discussed the situation and Dikshit's meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

“I am not denying that there is no corruption. Corruption is at every level. Corruption is not limited only to government. We need an effective mechanism to deal with corruption,” she told reporters after the meeting.

Earlier, speaking at a function at the Secretariat,Dikshit said, “Everyone wants corruption to be uprooted from our society. We need a strong anti-corruption law but it should be through a proper process of discussion and dialogue.”

She hoped that efforts were on to clinch a deal on how to deal with corruption.

Asked about the resolution of the issue, she said, “Dialogues at various levels are on and I am not involved in the dialogue process. But If I am asked I will also be part of it.”

“We should have a Lokpal which should contain corruption,” she said.

To a question regarding his son and Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit's backing of a strong Lokpal, Dikshit said different people may have different viewpoints, but the “bottomline is that everyone wants a corruption-free India”.  PTI
