Hyderabad: Public meetings, processions and people gathering on roads or public places have been prohibited by the police, for a week from today, according to an official release issued here yesterday.
“Prohibitory orders will be in force with effect from 6.00 AM on August 23 to 6.00 AM on August 29, to maintain public order, peace and tranquility in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad,” Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said.
Carrying swords, spears, knives, sticks with or without flags, bludgeons, guns, explosives and other offensive weapons have been banned, besides collection, carrying of stones or other means of casting missiles.
The police also prohibited the use of mikes and public address systems in and around secretariat premises, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Building, Nizam's College and its surroundings, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly premises, besides its surrounding roads, among other places.
Any person violating the prohibitory orders shall be liable for prosecution under the provisions of the Hyderabad City Police Act, the release said.
