Chamoli, Uttarakhand, Jan 31: A devastating forest fire in the hills of Chamoli here on Monday gutted hundreds of trees and plants with firefighters nowhere ion the scene, villagers alleged.
Villagers said, they had informed the forest department officials, but no firefighters have been sent so far.
A large number of medicinal plants have been gutted in the forest fire, with several wild animals feared to have perished.
The foreswt department officials are citing assembly elections as a pretext for not taking any action.
