Shimla: Himachal Pradesh suffered cumulative losses to the tune of Rs 2767.48 crore to crops and public and private property due to excessive rains which also claimed 41 lives, an official spokesman said here.
The loss to cattle in the rains has been assessed at Rs 5.51 crore as per NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) guidelines, he said.
As many as 3,802 houses were fully or partially damaged in various parts of the state due to landslides and total loss to private property was more than Rs 100 crore, he said.
More than 4,100 roads were damaged or washed away in the rains and the loss was assessed at Rs 1218.71 crore, he said, adding that the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway was washed away at various points between Wangtu and Sumdo and the damage to the road was to the tune of Rs 40 crore.
The spokesman said funds amounting to Rs 129.24 crore have been released for immediate relief to rain affected districts.
Nine villages in the tribal Lahaul and Spiti districts were completely cut off from the rest of the state due to rains and landslides, he added.
