Srinagar, Mar 13 : Pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit today claimed responsibility for the attack on a CRPF camp here that left five security personnel and two ultras dead.
A spokesman of the Hizb called a local news agency to claim responsibility for the attack. But later the Hizb spokesman withdrew it.
The outfit would carry out similar attacks in future also, the Hizb spokesman had earlier said in a telephonic call to the news agency.
India TV reporter adds: Sources said, the CRPF personnel were sitting ducks for the Hizbul militants as the jawans were unarmed.
Sources said, the J&K government had recently instructed all CRPF and BSF personnel not to move with weapons in populated localities.
While the BSF ignored the state government's advice, the CRPF men were walking around without weapons.
Five CRPF personnel and two militants were killed while four civilians were among 10 injujed in the attack on a CRPF camp at Bemina in the city.
