Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today issued directions to state officials to speed up developmental programmes and set up a mechanism to monitor implementation of Central schemes.
Expressing displeasure at slow pace of Centrally-sponsored programmes under Integrated Action Plan (IAP), Soren, in a high-level meeting, directed officials to set up a mechanism to monitor implementation of Central schemes, an official release said here.
Reviewing the progress of various departments at the meeting attended by Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty, among others, Soren warned officials that if funds are not spent to implement the schemes, it would be construed as laxity on the part of superintendents of police, deputy commissioners and district forest officers.
Directing the Chief Secretary to ensure sending of report to the Centre by June 30 for the release of funds, the Chief Minister said if any district did not get Central funds under Backward Region Grant Fund and IAP, then deputy commissioner and district development commissioner of the district concerned would be held responsible.
Soren also asked distribution of old-age pension to the beneficiaries through setting up camps and complete all formalities to distribute blankets to the poor before the onset of winter.
Reviewing the Welfare Department, the Chief Minister asked to prepare a proposal to increase scholarship amount, which was not enhanced since 1990, and bring it before the Cabinet.
