New Delhi, Jul 22: Heavy rains lashed Delhi and satellite towns of National Capital Region causing widespread waterlogging and traffic snarls on arterial roads.
This was the second wave of heavy rainfall after heavy rains brought life in the capital to a halt on Saturday.
Meanwhile, with flood threat looming in neighbouring Haryana, nearly 1.08 lakh cusec of water was released from Hathnkikund barrage near Yamunanagar, into the river Yamuna, which is now in spate in Delhi.
Flood alert has been sounded in lowlying river banks areas of Delhi.
Monday morning's heavy rains led to huge traffic jams on Ring Road, Nizamuddin, Sarai Kale Khan, Mayur Vihar, Ashram and Pragati Maidan.
Traffic snarls were also reported from Gurgaon, Noida and Greater Noida.
Delhi Traffic policemen wearing raincoats were out in full force to clear traffic snarls on main arterial roads.
