Thane, Jul 18: The Thane district administration has asked those residing along the river banks and in the vicinity of the dams to take extra caution in the face of heavy rainfall and overflowing lakes.
Gates of Tansa and Vaitarna dams in the district have been opened to release extra water, the sources in the district headquarters said.
Meanwhile, Thane city and district received heavy rains today. A portion of the slab of first floor of an under-construction building in Dosti Complex here collapsed this afternoon at around 2 pm, fire brigade sources said.
There were no casualties.
