Mumbai, Jun 10: Heavy rains overnight and early morning brought this metro's life to a standstill, with suburban trains running late and waterlogging in many localities.
Till 8 am today, Colaba (south Mumbai) recorded 69.65 mm rainfall, while the eastern suburb recorded 109.38 mm and western suburb recorded 159.34 mm rainfall.
Huge traffic jams were noticed on both the western and eastern highways, connecting roads and other artrials like Link Road, SV Road.
Office goers had to face a lot of trouble in reaching their offices on the first working day of the week.
Suburban trains on Central Railway are running half an hour late, while trains on Western and Harbour lines are running 15 to 20 minutes late.
Waterlogging has been reported from Worli, Lower Parel, Hindmata, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, King's circle, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Bandra, Mahin, Santacruz, Ville Parle, Andheri and Goregaon.
High tide measuring 4.26 metres is expected at around 1:41 pm.
Met department officials said intermittent rains would continue throughout the day today.
