New Delhi, Feb 1: After heavy fog Friday morning that disrupted air and rail traffic severely, the skies remained clear and sunny through the day. The Met office has forecast similar conditions Saturday as well.

According to a railway official, around 10 trains were cancelled and 17 delayed because of thick fog.

Similarly, 12 flights were cancelled and 77 were delayed, a Delhi International Airport Limited statement said.

The traffic on road moved at a snail's pace too with motorists having a tough time steering through the dense fog.

Sandeep Dutta, who drives a school van from Noida to Delhi, said: "There was dense fog and I could hardly see anything, it was difficult to drive and I was just following the car moving ahead."

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Saturday morning too will witness fog followed by a sunny and warm afternoon.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 22 and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively," said the IMD official.

Meanwhile, parts of northern India will witness rain and hailstorm starting Sunday owing to western disturbance, the official added.

Friday was a warm, sunny day and the maximum temperature settled three notches above average at 24 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was a notch below average at 7.6 degrees Celsius.

The humidity levels wavered between a high of 97 and a low of 46 percent.
