Hyderabad: Parts of Telangana are currently reeling under a heat wave that has already claimed 21 lives even as Meteorological Department officials warned that day temperature would shoot up further.

“As per the information received till yesterday the toll is 21”, Revenue Secretary B R Meena told PTI.  Quoting IMD, he said heat wave conditions would continue till Sunday.

The Government has issued “Do's and Don'ts” list for the people and have been asked not to venture outside when the day temperatures are high.  Parts of the districts of Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karimnagar are among the worst-hit by oppressive heat, Director of Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, Y K Reddy, said.

Khammam was among the places where severe heat conditions prevailed, he added. “Heat wave conditions will prevail till Sunday,” Reddy said.

Heat wave has also been sweeping parts of Andhra Pradesh with several towns in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam, West Godavari and East Godavari bearing the brunt, officials said.
