Chennai: Madras High Court today asked stakeholders to make suggestions, if any, on the guidelines proposed by the city police to handle demonstrations of persons with special needs.
The directive was given by a bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R.
Mahadevan during the hearing of a PIL taken up suo motu by the court.
The bench adjourned the matter to December 22.
The PIL was taken up by the court on a representation made by advocate Nasurullah on the alleged attack by the police on a group of visually-challenged persons.
R. Dinakaran, Joint Commissioner of Police, East Zone, Chennai, has filed an affidavit before the bench with the proposed guidelines.
