Chennai, Aug 9: Madras High Court has quashed the Government Orders which had reverted promotions of 12 Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) employees who were demoted to the post of assistant salesmen from that of salesmen.

Disposing of a clutch of petitions by one B Rasappan and 11 others, who sought quashing of the orders of the District Manager of TASMAC in Nagapattinam, Justice D Hariparanthaman sent the matter back to the latter for reconsideration.

The petitioners were initially appointed as assistant salesmen in 2004 and promoted to the post of salesman in 2005.

But on July 26, 2013, the TASMAC District Manager at Nagapattinam passed an order to once again re-designate them as assistant salesmen.

The judge, who quashed the order, said they were passed in blatant violation of principles of natural justice.

He also observed that no adverse orders resulting in civil consequences could be passed against a person without hearing him. He then asked the TASMAC District Manager to hear the petitioners.
