Yet another incident of massive stone pelting was reported from Haryana on Monday. According to reports, the incident occurred at Ambedkar Chowk in Gurugram's Sohna region. This comes after a similar incident was reported on Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Religious Mewat Yatra earlier in the day.
As news of the violence in Muslim-dominated Nuh spread, mobs in adjoining Sohna set ablaze four vehicles and a shop, apparently belonging to people from that community. Protesters blocked a road for hours.
Section 144 imposed in Gurugram
In view of clashes in neighbouring Nuh, the Gurugram administration has imposed Section 144 in the district. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav imposed Section 144 of Cr.PC in Gurugram district effective immediately. "Unlawful activities, road blockades, and assembly of 5+ persons with weapons prohibited to maintain peace & tranquillity. Order in force till further notice," the official statement said. Meanwhile, Yadav also warned the public of strict legal action for any objectionable post on social media.
15 companies of central forces dispatched to Sohna
Meanwhile, Union Home Ministry Amit Shah announced to dispatch at least 15 additional companies of central forces to Haryana, as violence erupted in Sohna, situated adjacent to Delhi. According to reports, mobs in Sohna set ablaze four vehicles and a shop.
About the violence
According to some claims, the trigger for the clash was an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist in Ballabhgarh. The yatra was flagged off earlier from Gurugram's Civil Lines by BJP district president Gargi Kakkar. A police contingent was deployed with the procession.
