School bus overturns in Haryana, six kids reportedly dead, PM condoles death

According to reports, it was GL Public School's bus. Now the authorities are being questioned why the school was opened on a public holiday.

In a horrific road accident in the early Thursday morning on Kanina Dadri road in Mahendragarh district, a private school bus went out of control and overturned. According to initial reports, five children have died in this accident. At least 15 others are said to be injured.

Preliminary reports suggest that the bus overturned while overtaking a vehicle in Mahendragarh. "Several school children have been injured," a police official said. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences. "The bus accident in Mahendragarh, Haryana is extremely painful. My condolences are with all the families who have lost their children in this accident. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured children. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims and their families," PM Modi said.

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini also condoled the accident and said, "I am saddened by the school bus accident in Kanina, Mahendragarh. My sympathies are with the families who have lost their children. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the probe. We will ensure ex-gratia to the affected families and full treatment of the injured students."

Dr Ravi Kaushik, Nihal hospital, Mahendragarh said, "Four students were brought dead and one critical student who was put on a ventilator passed away at the hospital. 15 injured students have been referred to another hospital. SDM and administration present."

Haryana's Education Minister Seema Trikha reached private hospital in Rewari and met the injured students. "FIR will be registered against the school principal and owner along with the bus driver. Opening of schools on holidays is a serious matter. Instructions have been given to all the district education officers of the state to take action."
