Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch one of his pet projects - 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign from Panipat in Haryana today to save and empower girl child.
Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said that the campaign will start after a formal inauguration by Prime Minister.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other Union Ministers will be present during the launch ceremony.
This campaign will be implemented in 12 districts of Haryana, the state with lowest state ratio and in other 88 districts of the country.
The districts of Haryana where the scheme will be launched are-- Mahendergarh, Jhajjar, Rewari, Sonepat, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamuna Nagar, Kaithal, Bhiwani and Panipat.
The village that succeeds in attaining a balanced sex ratio will be awarded Rs 1 crore and be entitled as the most “innovative” village.
All the government and non-government schools have been asked observe a holiday today on account of this event.
