Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Meenakashi Lekhi will take part in a four-day ‘Jan Ashirwad’ yatra in the national capital, starting Monday, the Delhi BJP said on Saturday.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his Council of Ministers last month with a focus on inclusion of more women, OBCs and SCs, the saffron party had announced that the new ministers would undertake the yatra to reach out to people.

The 107 km yatra, covering all seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi, will witness Puri taking part in 272 programmes, while Lekhi will participate in 47 programmes. The yatra will culminate on August 19.

"Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi will be part of the yatra on August 16, 17 and 18 in New Delhi, Chandni Chowk, east Delhi and some parts of north east Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies.

“Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will visit west Delhi, north west Delhi, south Delhi and some parts of north east Lok Sabha constituencies on August 16, 17 and 19," a statement quoting Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said.

A large number of women, youth, Dalits, traders, lawyers, engineers, doctors, retired civil defence personnel, representatives of various religious and social organisations besides RWAs will take part in the yatra, it noted.

According to Gupta, there is a "wave of happiness" in all sections of the society with Modi's induction and elevation of 39 Union ministers, including 27 ministers from Dalit community, 12 from Scheduled Castes and eight from Scheduled Tribes.

"The Yatra will commence from Covid vaccination centres and during its course, the ministers will also visit Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojna centres. Also, gas stoves will be given under Ujjawala Yojna, while beneficiaries will be handed over registries under Pradhan Mantri Uday Yojna in unauthorised colonies," it added.

The yatra will cover an overall distance of 19,567 km across 13 states, including 212 Lok Sabha constituencies and 265 districts.

All the ministers will spend 142 travel days, the statement added.
