Thane: The Thane district rural police reported a case of rioting and resultant cross complaints today, during a marriage related function in Vashind.
The police said that a get together of friends and relatives on the eve of a marriage function was organised at Vashind for the marriage of the sister of one Dolly.
Friends and relatives had gathered and dancing to the tune of music on Saturday night, when a rival group of villagers reached the venue, since both the groups had been invited for the function by members of the bride's family.
The police said that a quarrel arose while dancing when the two groups of villagers began attacking each other with leathal weapons.
The entire situation turned out to be a battleground, the police said.
