New Delhi: K V Chowdary, former chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), who has been appointed the new central vigilance commissioner, in an exclusive interview with India TV, expressed his views on various issues ranging from the allegations levelled by renowned lawyer Ram Jethmalami to how the government is planning to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks.

Chowdary said " I came to know about the issues raised by Ram Jethmalani only through media and I regard him as my father." "I do not want to discuss anything regarding this issue,"he added

On his meeting with the former CBI chief Ranjit Sinha, K V Chowdary said," There are five-six premier investigating agencies of government of India and as head of these agencies we tend to meet each other for the official purpose. We meet in offices, residences and also in conferences". But these meetings don't amount to criminal cases.

"I work for the government and not individuals and so the question of being close to someone does not arise", K V Chowdary said when probed about his closeness to P Chidambaram.

"I have been in the profession for the last 36 years and have worked with many seniors and ministers during this period," he added.

The newly appointed CVC while speaking on the issue of black money said" Government is putting its maximum effort to bring the substantial amount of black money kept abroad and has made changes in the act also".
