Govt starts registration process for e-rickshaws

New Delhi: After months of uncertainty, the plying of e-rickshaws are set to become official with the Delhi government starting the process of licensing and registration through facilitation camps.

“A total of 4,113 applicants have been registered and 2,439 learning licences have been issued till today in the facilitation camps of e-rickshaws,” Transport Minister Gopal Rai here said.

Government has started the process for ensuring the plying of e-rickshaws under the 13 regional transport authorities of the capital, he said.

Rai said that the Transport Department has organized special camps for issuing learners licences, PSV (Public Service Vehicle) badges and registration of e-rickshaws at the 13 transport authorities namely Mall Road, IP Depot, Sheikh Sarai, Wazirpur, Mayur Vihar, Surajmal Vihar, Raja Garden, Rohini, Janakpuri, Palam, Vasant Vihar, Loni and AR Unit Burari.

These facilitation camps began yesterday and are being held between 10 am and 4 pm till the end of the month.

“In these camps, all the interested e-rickshaw owners and drivers can contact their respective motor licensing offices, and can apply for learners licences and PSV badge respectively. In case of any query, e-rickshaw drivers/owners can also contact the helpline number 011-42400400,” he said.
