Two daughters of senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde were badly injured when a biker hit them from behind on the pavement outside Munde's apartment on Friday night. The motorbike driver has been taken into custody, police said.
Munde's daughter Pritam, a doctor, and another daughter Pankaja were coming out of the building and walking on the pavement in Worli, when a biker rammed them from behind on the pavement.
A relative of Munde said, both have been admitted to Lilawati Hospital. Pritam suffered fractures in the leg and injury to the spine, while Pankaja suffered injury to the shoulder, he added.
Both are out of danger and are expected to be discharged from the hospital within 2-4 days, the relatives said.
Rahul Mahajan and his wife visited Munde's daughters in hospital.
Mumbai police has registered a case under sections 291, 338 IPC and the biker has been taken into custody. He is being medically examined to check whether he was under influence of alcohol, sub-inspector Prakash Thakur said.
