Kalimpong, West Bengal, Jul 28: The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJM) has given a 72-hour-bandh call in Darjeeling hills beginning Monday to press for its demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
Roshan Giri, GJM general secretary, said, the entire hilly area will observe bandh. 'When the Centre is thinking of creating Telangana, it should also create a separate state of Gorkhaland', he said.
The decision was taken after a meeting of GJM leaders at Girls high school by members of central committee, headed by Bimal Gurung, chief of GJM on Saturday.
According to Roshan Giri, all government offices, schools, colleges will come under the purview of strike.
