Ghaziabad, May 19: The Ghaziabad Development Authority yesterday approved 29 proposals, with many aimed at benefiting farmers and economically weaker sections.

According to a new proposal, farmers will now be given six per cent developed land from their acquired land at a rate of Rs 3,500 per sq metre, GDA VC Santosh Kumar Yadav said.

GDA will also enforce an existing affordable housing scheme, under which builders would allot 10 per cent flats to LIG (Low income group) and EWS (economically weaker section), Yadav said.

The scheme was introduced last year but was not being enforced, he said.

GDA would recover Rs 2.4 lakh from EWS members occupying the homes and Rs 5-10 lakh from LIG, which would be handed over to the builder, Yadav said.

For EWS, eligibility income will be fixed at Rs 6,000 per month, while for LIG, it would be Rs 12,000 per month.

In what may come as relief to small builders, under a new rule, even a building built in an area of 90 sq metre can be raised to a height of 15 metres (stilt parking plus four storeys).
Parking will be in proportion to number of floors, he said.
