Jaipur: The Rajasthan government yesterday decided to provide free dialysis facility to kidney patients in the state from October 2.







A proposal to this effect was cleared by the state cabinet in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here Saturday night, a government spokesperson said.

The patients will get free dialysis facility in government hospitals under the CM's free diagnosis scheme, he said adding that some hospitals were already providing it for free under the scheme.

The cabinet also gave approval to various other proposals including a resolution for the implementation of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) in the state.

The National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) would cover all cities with a population of more than 50,000. It aims to provide the basic health care needs of the urban population with focus on urban poor, the spokesperson said.

It will be implemented in 61 cities having population above 50,000 in the state in a phased manner and around 1.25 crore people will be benefited by it, he added.

A proposal related to amendment in the Rajasthan Rules of Business for establishing a separate Consumer Affairs Department was also given approval and the new department will be set up by separating it from the present Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

The draft of 'Rajasthan Lake Development Authority Ordinance- 2013' also got nod which will pave way for the protection, conservation, restoration, regeneration and integrated development of lakes situated in the state.

The draft of Rajasthan Trees (Plantation and Protection in Urban Areas) Ordinance, 2013 was also given approval by the Cabinet, the spokesperson said.
