Port Blair, Nov 17: Four persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court here in the CBSE question paper leak case.
The verdict was pronounced by Special Judge (Port Blair) Debi Prasad Dey yesterday against P Krishnama Raju, Abdul Rasheed, M J Vijayan and Abdul Salam . Another accused, M P Arun, was acquitted.
Thet were found guilty of hatching a criminal conspiracy in February this year to get the CBSE class 12 question papers leaked.
According to the judgement, Rasheed and Vijayan had travelled to Car Nicobar on February 14 and met Raju, who was the principal of the government senior secondary school in Lapathy, to get the question papers photocopied for their children. A Car Nicobar police officer, who aided them in the crime, was later suspended.
The matter came to light on March 3, when a local daily reported that the physics paper, for which examination was held on March 1, had been leaked.
The administration then launched a probe and a case was registered in the Car Nicobar police station.
