Kolkata: Four of a family were injured here after they were assaulted by a gang of goons for protesting the molestation of a family member, police said Saturday, adding one of the accused has been arrested.
The incident happened Friday night under the Topsia police station area when a class 10 girl returning home was stalked and molested by a gang of youths.
The girl later called up her family members after which the youth fled only to come back with a large gang and assaulted her family members, resulting in injuries to four of them.
"We have arrested a man in this connection and looking for others," said a police officer.
In a related incident, a class 7 girl was allegedly molested by two youth also in the city Friday night. No arrest has been made.
Earlier, a 50-year-old man was killed in South 24 Parganas district's Joynagar after he complained against some youth who used to molest and tease his daughter.
