The ceremony went on till late into the night. The devotees first had a holy dip in the Mahodadhi, and after performing prayers they decorated boats and then went to the shrine for the "sunavesha" (golden) darshan of Lord Jagannath and the other two idols.
The idols were placed on the Ratna Sinhasan (diamond-studded throne).
