Dehradun, Mar 30 : Associates of a former UP minister allegedly clashed today with a local ABVP leader and his companion at the residence of former Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, police said.

Associates of former UP Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui entered into an argument with ABVP leader Jitendra Rawat and his aide Rahul Gupta, when Gupta allegedly objected to the manner in which they were parking their car at Dilaram Chowk in the city, SP (city) D S Kunwar said.

The car was part of the former UP Minister's fleet, police said.

As the argument escalated, Rawat, the former president of DAV College students' union, sensed trouble and left along with Gupta, only to realise that they were being followed by the persons with whom they had a tiff.

Seeing that the group was armed, Rawat pulled up outside Nishank's residence at Raj Bhawan Annexe on Cantt Road and ran inside with Gupta to take shelter, but Siddiqui's men, including his OSD Naim, followed them there too.

Though Rawat managed to go inside Nishank's house, the group got hold of Gupta inside the campus and assaulted him in front of the former CM's personal staff, who reported the matter to the police.

Realising that the police were on the way, they fled, the SP said.

However, six persons have been detained at the instance of the ABVP leader and Nishank's personal staff for interrogation in this connection, the SP added.
