Criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani questions:" Why doesn't the girl complain? He (Ganguly) is not under any obligation to resign. If you feel so strongly as press, why don't you go file an FIR".
National Commission for Women chairperson Mamta Sharma said that the NCW would issue a notice to Ganguly.
“I believe that action should be taken against former Supreme Court Justice, A. K. Ganguly and the women commission will take a strong step in this regard and will not step back. We will issue a notice to him,” said Sharma.
Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj has also demanded that Ganguly should resign. Party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said: “Already leader of opposition, Sushma Swaraj has already demanded that he should resign and therefore that's our stand and so, we are not adding anything further because the matter is in the public domain."
BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy said, "since the Supreme Court panel has said, her statement is sufficient to start an investigation, an FIR needs to be registered. But she also need to answer some questions. An FIR can be lodged based upon that. For registering an FIR, the confirmation from the victim is necessary."
