Former SC judge Ganguly on a sticky wicket, Delhi Police asks intern to file FIR

New Delhi/Kolkata: The noose seems to be tightening against former Supreme Court judge A K Ganguly, with the Delhi Police today sending an e-mail to the complainant law intern asking her to come and file

"I am pleased with what the committee has done. I do believe police must register an FIR immediately," Additional Solicitor General Indra Jaisingh said in her reaction.

In Kolkata, retired SC judge A K Ganguly today implored mediapersons not "to disturb him".

"Don't disturb me...Don't disturb me. I have tolerated enough," a visibly angry Ganguly told reporters when he stepped out of his house here today.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, BSP supremo Mayawati and several other leaders have demanded that Ganguly resign as chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission in the wake of his indictment by the Supreme Court panel.

Mamata Banerjee yesterday wrote to President Pranab Mukherjee asking him to take "appropriate action" urgently against the "grave misconduct" of the former Supreme Court Judge.

The National Commission for Women has reprimanded Delhi Police for not filing FIR, after the law intern made her complaint public through a blog.

The NCW has sent another notice to Delhi Police asking why it has not taken any step in this case till now.

Law Minister Kapil Sibal tweeted: "Supreme Court must protect dignity of woman, not doing so disappoints us".

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi tweeted:  "Not just file!Meet and record it before a Magistrate"

Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal said: law must definitely take its course and be straight against these kinds of people. "I am happy that such people are now feeling scared.
