Sasaram/Ara : Five passengers were killed and 48 others injured, many of them seriously, in separate road accidents in Bihar's Rohtas and Bhojpur districts today, police sources said.
Four persons were killed and 18 others injured as a passenger bus lost control and overturned in a ditch in Ghosiya village in Rohtas district, the sources said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured admitted to a hospital.Efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the victims, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ashok Kumar Das said.
The ill-fated bus was carrying over two dozen passengers from Sasaram to Bikramganj when it met with accident, he said.
In a related incident in Bhojpur district, a public school bus carrying about 50 students, overturned in a ditch near Salempur village under Mufassil police station area this morning, the sources said, adding a student, identified as Aman Kumar (10) died during treatment in the Sadar hospital.
30 others sustained injuries and were being treated at the Sadar hospital where the condition of three of them was stated to be critical, Deputy Superintendent Kumar Jitendra said.
