Gustaf III airport
Gustaf III airport, on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy, is at the base of gentle slope that ends on the beach.
The arrival descent is extremely steep and planes come frighteningly close to the moving traffic circle.
With a runway length of just 650 metres, the airport does not cater to international flights. The airport is served by small regional commercial aircraft and charters. Most visiting aircraft carry fewer than twenty passengers.
Only the most qualified and highly-trained pilots able to land aircraft here.
The airport is located in the island's second-largest town, St. Jean.
The History Channel programme Most Extreme Airports ranks Gustaf III airport as the 3rd most dangerous airport in the world.
