Gurgaon, Mar 28: Five migrant labourers from West Bengal were crushed to death after a power transmission tower fell on them in Haryana's Mewat district Thursday, police said.
Eleven people were also injured in the accident.
The tower collapsed in Sikrawa village near Punhana, around 80 km from here.
Three workers were crushed to death on the spot while two died of their injuries in hospital. The other injured have been admitted to a government hospital in Nuh.
The project manager and site engineers have been booked under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code, Mewat's senior superintendent of police Sukhbir Singh told IANS.
Around 125 labourers were at work on two towers when one of them collapsed.
The fallen tower was to transmit electricity from Gurgaon to Agra.
Those killed have been identified as Munilal, 20, Muktarool, 22, Isrile Momin, 23, Rintu Shekh, 22, and Sabirool Shekh -- all from Malda district of West Bengal, said Devender Singh, Punhana police station chief.
