Nellore (AP): Five people, including three Bihar policemen sent on election duty, died when a speeding container rammed into stationary vehicles on National Highway near Nellore on Sunday.
The policemen from Bihar were returning after depositing Electronic Voting Machines in Bangalore for repair.
The police van had a flat tyre and it was parked on the roadside behind an ambulance, when the speeding container hit both the vehicles, after the driver lost control.
The Bihar policemen have been identified as Manager Singh, 46, Kamal Ahmed Khan, 30 and Sanjeev Kumar, 30.
An intermediate student Madhu Prabhakar, 17, and R Nageshwara Rao,30, resident of Padarupalli, also succumbed to injuries. Two employees inside the ambulance were admitted to a nearby hospital.
