Mumbai, Dec 13: Lakhs of rupees worth soaps and chemicals were gutted in a big fire that engulfed a soap factory in Taloja in Navi Mumbai on Monday after midnight.
The fire began at around midnight and could be controlled only at around 5:30 am on Tuesday. Fifteen fire tenders were used to control the blaze.
The fire was aggravated by chemicals kept in drums which exploded. The VVF Chemicals had imported palmolein oil from Malaysia to manufacture soaps.
The cause of fire is being ascertained.
