Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda indicated that an FIR under abetment to suicide complaint filed two days back by Ruchika's brother may be registered once investigations are completed.
"May be today," Hooda told reporters here on the sidelines of a State Congress meeting when asked if the FIR on Ashu's complaint under Section 306 of the IPC (abetment to suicide) against former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore and others would be registered.
"Justice will be done in the case...naturally, they have lodged a complaint and FIR will be registered once the investigations are completed," he said.
"The report from Home Secretary is yet to come. I am waiting for the report from SIT. If the SIT report says CBI should take up the case, then we will look into it. The entire case should be revisited," he added.
When asked if he had talked to Home Minister P Chidambaram with regard to the molestation case, Hooda parried a reply, saying, "We keep talking regularly on various issues".
Hooda said he has full sympathy with the members of the family of Ruchika, who was molested by Rathore, the then IGP in August 1990. The victim committed suicide in December 1993.
Ashu had filed a complaint with Panchkula police seeking registration of a case under section 306 against Rathore.
In the complaint, Ashu alleged that he was tortured, harassed and booked in false cases after the molestation of his sister.
"Such circumstances were created which compelled his sister to commit suicide in 1993 - three years after the molestation by Rathore," the family lawyer had told the SP.
Besides Rathore, four other police personnel - then Ambala SP K P Singh, ASI Jai Narayan, SI Prem Dutt and ASI Sewa Singh have also been named in the complaint. PTI
