New Delhi: A three-day mega science exhibition ‘Expo-2014' was inaugurated at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi with an aim of exposing the benefits of Science and Technology in today's society.
Speaking on the occasion, MoS for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Jitendra Singh, who inaugurated the event on Saturday, said that Science and Technology is making rapid strides in the country but it requires a wider exposure so that its benefits may reach all sections of society.
The indigenously produced original products need to be more widely publicized and the exhibitions like this help in achieving this objective, he said.
The Minister took personal interest in discussing the displays at each stall and made suggestions for their improvement and optimum utilization.
He also went to the Food and Technology section and singled out several healthy low calorie original food products from Indian sources. He suggested that these should be encouraged for display in various health and medical conferences.
Jitendra Singh expressed hope that initiatives like ‘Expo-2014' will not only find sponsors for economic support but will also play a role in enriching the health and well being of society.
